Report: EU unlikely to sanction Russian diamonds in latest round
MOSCOW, Oct 4 (PRIME) -- Russian diamonds are unlikely to be part of the next round of the E.U. sanctions, newswire Euractiv reported on Tuesday, a day after Polish Ambassador to Brussels Andrzej Sados said that the union had failed to agree on inclusion of diamonds into the list of restricted goods.
Euractiv reported quoting diplomats familiar with the matter that Belgium would not oppose the diamond sanctions this time, but the gems were still unlikely to be included into the next round. Not all E.U. diplomats are satisfied with that because the impact it could have had on Belgium is insignificant.
Greece and Cyprus are no longer against the price cap on seaborne Russian oil, and now only Malta disagrees with the proposal, the newswire reported.
